Schneider Electric provides one of the industry's most flexible and cost-efficient motion control solutions by combining the Twido™ PLC with the Lexium™ 05 servo drive and BSH motors. Making this solution possible is the ability to connect each via theCANopen™ fieldbus. By utilizing built-in CANopen device connectivity, packaging machinery OEMs can avoid the costly premiums involved with motion control solutions based on a SERCOS architecture when implementing motion solutions involving a limited number of non-synchronized axes of motion.

The Twido PLC, with its expandable I/O capability and the ability to serve as a CANopen master, is the perfect low-cost brain of the packaging machinery's motion control system. The PLC commands the Lexium 05, which features both integrated safety and auto-tuning, over the same fieldbus as other devices such as variable frequency drives, distributed I/O, safety, and sensors which eliminates the need for the additional wiring and the cost of a dedicated motion control bus.
